| Description: |
"File Xoom" provides free file hosting and image hosting services, hosted on a network of several high performance Pentium 4, Linux servers. You get 2 GB (2048 MB) of file storage space, 100 mb file sizes, and 5 GB per month bandwidth. Files are kept on the server indefinitely. You can upload several files at a time, and there is a batch uploading files feature (via a ZIP file) available if you want to upload several files at once (by uploading a single Zip archive of your files) instead of selecting each file name separately. You must check the "Extract Zip files" option on their upload form for the uploader to extract all the files inside the Zip file you upload (or else it will be hosted as a single ZIP file). You can use this free filehosting service for uploading and hosting mp3 files, videos, audios, pictures, Flash, text files, and more -- the uploader accepts all file types except for a few such as php, html, xml, asp, and exe. Direct linking (hot-linking) the hosted files is allowed. Free sign-up is required (the "Public Uploading" uploader is currently disabled). The free file sharing service is powered by the mysql version of Uploader v6.2 CeleronDude script.

I used this service over a week for auction listings. During that short time the server was down at least twice for long periods of time. I find that totally unacceptable for hosting pictures on a live on-line auction listing. If you just want to throw some personal pictures up there, go ahead - it is easy to use - but if you are thinking of using this for online auction listings - forget it! I switched to PhotoBucket and found that my pictures loaded faster into my webpage.

I can't upload anything bigger than 5MBs. See the main page. they said it is fixed now, but isn't! I will give 5 rating because of the unlimited bandwidth and 2gb space, but it is useless for hosting anything bigger than an image file.

I registered, and have attempted to upload several different file sizes and formats. Only small image files have been successful. Every other type and size of file (swf, rar, zip, avi, mp3 ranging from 150kb to 16MB) uploads for about 30 seconds then just sends me back to the default upload page. So the uploading problem isn't just with big files.
Previously you could use this free filehosting service for uploading and hosting small or big files such as videos, audios, MP3 music files, hotlinking images and pictures for eBay auctions and message boards, Adobe Acrobat documents, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint files, and other file types (all file types were allowed except for a few potentially malicious ones, such as HTML, PHP, and ASP), but now the file extensions uploadable are limited to: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, txt (images and text files only). Their homepage says their staff are currently working on a CGI/Perl fix for the uploader problem. It also says the problem of uploading large files is being repaired by adding a cgi/java uploader which should allow for larger upload file sizes, and that these new functions should be up by next week.

they allow large files to be upload, and what is the best: they allow hotlinking. there are currently a few issues with uploading of larger files, but they'll fix it in in time.

100MB? I can't upload even 10MB. I've successfully uploaded 1.5MB file, but I tried to upload a file of 10MB several times, and all failed. It just jumped to the upload page. I have no idea what happened? And their server is totally down now.
