After extensive downtime, their web server is back up, but they have annouced they no longer provide free hosting services anymore.

Now their server only returns error 403 with message: "Access to this server is forbidden from your client".

"1 Gb Free Host" has a simple same control panel, and free hosting registration was instant. You can upload one file at a time via browserupload, and not much more options. The "Gigabyte" of free web space is actually 1 million kilobytes (KB). The control panel has a website editor, but the default is a WYSIWYG editor that doesn't work (or at least on my simple web page); you can click on the HTML icon to get a basic HTML editor though. Big ads are put at the bottom of your hosted web pages. SSI (shtml files) works, and shows the server software running is Microsoft-IIS/6.0. Here is a list of allowed filetypes/extensions: html htm shtml pdf gif jpg png doc xls sxw jsp css mdb txt zip tgz. There is a huge list of free websites hosted in their members directory, but after checking about 10 I didn't see any with actual uploaded content. Hopefully they clean up the list to only show used freehosting sites. Your free web site URL is of the form, http://free.1gbfreehost.com/user-name/
