I only use MyFileHut for streaming mp3's. Now that i can't for some odd reason, I wont be using it. I can't use wma's, one: because they stink, and two: I use Firefox. I would just like to say, Thank you so much MyFileHut staff for making this site extremely lame now for streaming audios.

I know it's basically for image files but the following quote is still quite a turn-off for me: "Direct Linking, Hotlinking, Streaming of Mp3 files are now not allowed, if you require to stream media, please use the wma format." I want my files (images and music) in one place.

myfilehut really should continue to allow mp3 streaming. what is the point in blocking it now? I am really dissapointed, and that is why im giving them a rating of 2 instead of 10.

Yeah, so basically the "limited time free promotion" was just a hoax to have people download as much mp3s as they can so you guys can ban the hotlinking and even streaming of mp3s of your site. Even though that was great thinking, you guys have basically lost most of the free users that came into the site just for uploading mp3s. In my opinion, I would let them use streaming mp3s instead of hotlinking mp3s since obviously the streaming one couldn't be downloaded. It isn't against the rules to listen rather than downloading copywrited material. Now, you're trying to have the users to post "music codes" onto your newly created blog/profile forums so they would forget the whole uploading mp3s. Well yeah, this is only my opinion. Keep up the fine job.

FileLodge is better, hands down - no bandwidth 500MB + streaming. beat that.

As the previous poster mentioned, there has been a very recent policy change by MyFileHut which means I have to rate this hoster considerably lower than I would have ordinarily. Now you are forbidden to link to Mp3's/Wav's directly (from a Blog for example), and the way they stated this "amendment" was if you should have known this all along. Fact is, this was not the case only a week ago (as far as I was aware, at least). I was under the impression that Direct Downloading was fine. I always suspected MyFileHut was too good to be true, and that the recent upgrade "Carrot" to 50mb (per file) upload was a precursor to something. Perhaps my cynical nature. My suspicion had been that once they'd hooked millions of users, they'd spring a "Payed only" service onto everyone. Luckily, that is not so. But this latest ammendment to the terms means that in all honesty, the majority of users would not be using this hoster any more if they are not allowed to link to Mp3s directly for download, and risk account deletion if they do. It is possible some people do use such services just to store files. But i suspect not. Most would want to link to Mp3's, for Blogs, etc (as I do). It's a real shame, because this is a great service indeed with good staff and maintenance. I am dissapointed that they have pulled this latest stunt on. Let's hope they reverse this decision soon.

No other hosting site allows this much space for free. And yesterday, my rating would have been a 10. But seeing as now they now disallow streaming mp3s and only wma's, it's now much lower. Normally I wouldn't mind, but I use firefox, and they don't play.

Policy change today:
"Mp3 Streaming and Direct Linking No Longer Allowed.
Direct Linking, Hotlinking, Streaming of Mp3 files are now not allowed. If you require to stream media, please use the wma format. If you subscribe to a package that allows mp3 streaming and direct linking, then it will be enabled.  If you are an artist who is using mp3 format for distribution of your music, please contact us and we can evaluate your files and allow permission to mp3 direct linking and streaming. You can still upload mp3 files but only for back up, to retrieve(download) your Mp3 files, login, goto "my files" simply click the "+" beside the mp3 file, and click download from the menu that appears."
