Abbreviation for "Free For All". FFA refers to webpage scripts that automatically update a links listing webpage when someone submits their URL to it (usually in hopes either someone will view the web page and click on their link, or search engines will index the page with their URL). These are often submitted to by automated programs which submit to hundreds or thousands of FFAs at a time. Often the FFA service requires the submitter to give an email address, to which they send SPAM. FFA is often referred to as FFAL ("Free For All Links"). These FFAs were of some benefit for SEO purposes several years ago, but not anymore, as any decent search engine will consider them to be totally worthless and spammy.
