Files.BZ offers free file hosting service for uploading and hosting small and large files such as digital videos, photos, doucuments, and digital audio. Offers 100 MB of storage space for your files and 10 GB of monthly bandwidth. Registration is required. Maximum file size is currently set at 10 MB (split archives are permitted). There are status bars showing usage of your storage space and bandwidth. Users can organize their files in folders. Direct linking (hotlinking) to files is allowed. Other features include thumbnail creation for images and the ability to upload multiple files simultaneously. Allowed file types are jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, txt, mp3, wmv, avi, pdf, doc, xls, ppt, mpg, mpeg. Files are kept on the server for an undetermined period of time. The uploading of copyrighted works is strictly prohibited, and the host follows DMCA takedown procedures (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) to remove copyrighted files.

I just signed with them, and it seems to be fast and reliable server. being able to link direct to your files is great. The only negative is there is no way at all of contacting them so if anything doesn't work you're on your own!

It took 20 minutes to upload one 1.5Mb bmp file, which it then tells me "exists and was skipped." So, wasted time. Also the popup is annoying.

The upload speed a user has depends not only on our connectivity but also on the user's internet connection and other factors we don't control. We don't have any reports mentioning upload or download speed issues at Files.bz. The "exists and was skipped" message appears when the file you are trying to upload already exists in your account. Advertising is present to cover the costs of running a website that serves thousands of users which transfer tens of thousands of files using terrabytes of bandwidth every month. The popunder is served once every 12 hours per user which is standard practice for reputable ad agencies serving popunders. Thank you for your rating, and good luck finding a better file hosting service with direct hotlinking.
