"The Image Hosting" is a free image hosting solution that can be used to share pictures with friends, post images on message boards and blogs, and direct link images from your personal website or online auction (hot linking allowed free). It generates thumbnails for photos that are larger than 200x200 pixels in resolution. Registration is required to use the service. Limitations: You may upload as many images as you like, as long as each of them is less than 1024 kb (1 MB) in size; File types allowed: .jpg, .jpeg .gif, .png, .swf (Flash files); You are not allowed to hot link fullsize images on any large-scale, non-forum websites; No images will be deleted for inactivity.

So far this service is working absolutely flawlessly for me. The only downsides, and some of them are real minor, are: can only upload 1 file at a time, no ability to create albums or folders for better image management, no confirmation when deleting images, and can't rename images. At the very least registered users should have these options. I just sent them an e-mail suggesting that they add these features, so hopefully they will sometime soon.

I am not very impressed with this site. There appears to be a problem uploading file names which have certain characters in them. Uploads end up containing no image. Then when you change the file name and get a successful image uploaded it refuses to delete the faulty non-existent image. Also there is no way that I could find to add titles to your images other than the file name. It's not a patch on the Yahoo Album site. I'm not inclined to use this one from - free or not.

For basic image and swf hosting, you cant do much better, you might need to look elsewhere to host your pages though...
